Have you never heard of Patina? You will ruin it.   TC

Was probably worth something to the right sort of buyer before, just scrap value now

Cut the cleaned square out and make up some crazy story about how it happened 100 years ago, townie twats (I'm sure you know a few of them ) eat that sort of shit up

It's called a bell rope

To my knowledge a bell rope is used for a peel of bells not hung of the clapper. The ropes that hang of the clapper are usually tied in fancy knots such as a monkey fist or a hangmans knot, or braided such as an end splice.

Willing to be proved wrong though.

I tried to google it and search earlier to do just that

I soon lost interest. I'm sure I can sleep at night lanyard will do for me.

However. If you were to show how exactly a monkey fist is tied or some of the other fancy nautical knots. I'm interested.

Now if you were to put a small ball of lead inside the monkeys fist, I bet it would make throwing a line over branches a lot easier?

And also a tw*t for pulling back out the tree when you miss the shot and get it stuck in a fork.

 I like your thinking but it never works like that. If it can snag and hang up. It will.

I was in a boozer in Falmouth and there was a presentation case of naval knots on the wall.

There must have been almost a hundred examples of fiddly and frustrating knots. All done out of a white parachord.

Someone had skill to put the lot together.

Now if I had an ornate bell that I had spend time pissing over and smearing brown sauce on. I would prefer something a little fancier for the " bell rope"! Than a bit of tired old bailing twine.

It's not f***ing baling twine alright? It's strimmer cord tied in a reef knot. I was going to use a granny knot, but thought I'd stick with the nautical theme.

For example. Something like that would look smart.

I'm sure there's someone talented on here that can do that for you.

I do quite a lot of decorative rope work, and most of the knots and splices are quite easy IF you are shown properly. Get yourself any of Des Pawsons books, he has done a couple of paperback books of knots. Outstandingly illustrated and very simply worded. You will be making knots you have never even heard of in minutes Edited by beast
