Blaise 2,324
I'd some dogs working in water, several times. Each time with coypus, sometimes on fox, and very rare on badger (in France). Badger don't like water. But it was always in forest or farm land, water was never dirty. Just a shower. 1 Quote Link to post

chilli 381
If you take stuff to clean your dogs straight away with you when you're out , then this should help cut down on infections & the dogs should heal quicker . jmo Quote Link to post
undertaker 831
Hibiscrub and penicillin are the job Quote Link to post
Waz 4,293
My dogs see a bit of working round water controlling coypu which dont have the canine teeth and power of bite of other quarry, but instead have a chisel edge rodent style ivorys. Disclaimer: Only keep baying dogs that stay 4 foot away from the sharp end, therefore never get bitten ) However a guy down the pub told me..... Salt water is good and convenient. Another product is hydroygen peroxide, youll get it in the chemists, and maybe in supermarkets, just dab it on, I am told you can overuse it on the same wound though as it sears the flesh lightly. Also heard for wounds that need stapling, you shouldnt use hydrogen peroxide, BUT 2 weeks ago I was up the the A&E with a split head and had 7 staples put in, they cleaned the wound up with a guaze pad soaked in hydrogen peroxide that I had to hole on my head for 10 minutes... reminds me I should get an appointment to get the staples out, should of come out last week. Hibiscrub and betadine also very good for cleaning wounds. Jagd. Edited March 24, 2015 by GD Waz 8 Quote Link to post
