Sparrowhawks should be my enemy having an aviary but ive grown to respect them over time they,ve got some front and a risk taking attitude i admire that yet detest them at the same time.....bit like Millwall fans really :D

ive had the buggers kill em through the wire before now gnash and the buggers are like mexicans with the ambush

Ive had the odd one on the aviary roof Brookie my little birds were petrified of course but havent lost one yet or even injured.......i bought one of them big ugly owl decoys with the rotating heads a while back, was out there a few days later with the Sparrowhawk stood on the roof looking at the owl then looking at me as if to say " your gonna have to do better than that son " :D ......ive just been lucky i guess.

great pics paulus but im afraid im not a sparrowhawk lover ,they decimate the birds on my feeders ,one even pulled a canary through my aviary mesh !!!!!! how the hell it did it i dont know ,best BOP i ever saw was, when i was waiting for fox cubs to come out of a bigrock pile one evening ,i was lying in some heather under cover with the gun trained on the pile ,watching a wheatear bobbing about a few feet away from me ,when a merlin hit it , awesome to see its the only merlin i have ever seen that day & since , a great moment for me (not the wheatear lol )

once witnessed a pair of merlins flown at skylarks, breathtaking thats all can say, missed a hobby last year that took a dragonfly just off the surface of the canal, something i will probably never witness again
