wild rover 548 Posted February 22, 2015 Author Report Share Posted February 22, 2015 Seems strange to see you with a whippet,...but I can see you are going to have some great craic All new to me Phil as well having had ACD crosses for over 20 years, no ACD bred stock about that I liked, lot of watered down stock or infused with bull, not my cuppa, but Im giving up serious ferreting and rabbiting, the little ACD x Grew bitch is 7, and I just want a little mate to have some fun with, bit of bushing and mooching down the local fields, we also have whippet racing local with a couple of clubs going well, whippets up here are very popular, lots of working whippets about, so I thought, why not. 5 Quote Link to post

They are supreme hunters,...quiksilver fast and most of them hunt like a terrier. We have had loads over the years, and for close combat style ferreting,..bush to bush, or in tight places where it is imperative that the rabbit does not escape,..nowt much beats them to the punch... One of the fastest and most determined whippet types that I have seen in recent years, belonged to Madgwick off this site. The wee dog had blistering pace and was a bolted rabbits,.. worst fecking nightmare... Like yourself , I am primarily a fan of the herding composites and favour a good strong half cross, but of late, to bring the size right down and create a neater, more agile bush buster, I have included some whippet blood into the mix. buster gonads 862 Posted February 22, 2015 Report Share Posted February 22, 2015 Iam suprised Handcock doesnt use some whippet blood in his collie crosses, i did ask him a few years back as i wanted a collie blooded rabbit dog around 22" top.s and couldnt source one, i thought at least i,d know what was in it if it came from Handcock, but no joy, GH only, still is as far as i know.
