8 Dogs Shot In Co.clare

Recommended Posts

If my dog killed a sheep in a farmers presence id expect it to be shot, if not id be digging a hole myself ....

The most sensible comment posted .

Why do people think they have the right to destroy someone's livelihood and not pay the consequences .

I think we would all like the opportunity to pay for the damage and walk away with are mutts but have you ever tried catching a dog that doesn't want caught never mind four. unfortunately people want to work their dogs on other peoples land in umongst peoples live stock and livelihood and not pay the price if anything goes wrong .

If any of my dogs did that I'd expect the full wrath of whatever way the farmer decided to deal with it.

i'd set the c**ts house on fire if he shot my dog.

No you wouldn't!!

everybody say that lol, but a crack around his head one night with rounders bat prob be more realistic , you soon get to know there routines . the dogs on this post are (hounds) feck knows what happened there , all dogs should be broke to stock , when your out in country , more so a working dog. for me any dog ive owned in the last 30 years are broke to stock, and still show them sheep every day, just to keep on top of them, they see sheep from 9 weeks old - and all time . I don't trust any dog 100% as ive said on these post before , there just dogs not machines and all can loose it few secs , but given a good hiding +training they don't x that line again , the odd few that might then they need 12 g job . but if my dogs were broke to sheep which there are ,and off lead but under control and only 10 yds or so in front in (view) and a trigger happy farmer shot them, as above wait me time , and give him nice 6 weeks holiday in the A.E. keep saying where the fookin sheep end up on a dinner plate, dog kills it farmer looses money, man kills it farmer makes money , it still a dead sheep lol. but that link was terrible no doubt the hunt paid him, and lost that ground there after

First impressions bird they aren't from a registered hunt, they look too varied to be a legit pack, there appears to be some old english, and then small harriers or beagle crosses maybe..... Hard to judge whats what by the pics but by looking at the bullet holes they definatly wern't under control when being dispatched. Its easy for this case to be right or wrong, if there are dead sheep in the field and some of theses dogs then that group should all be destroyed as it wouldn't be known what dogs done what, then go down the road and more dead sheep and another group of the same dogs..... Definatly all needed to be destroyed imo..... Provided there was physical evidence of sheep damage, bit severe if not harming the sheep but i dont think that will be the case here.... Its too public for them not to have killed sheep....

yeh, they must have gone in complete frenzy or something to kill that amount of sheep , cases like this with dead sheep got be dead dogs 12g all the way , its the only way. but norm pack hounds are good round stock, something or somebody not put enough time in with them .?

It's very unfortunate that this has happened and the anti's have got their hands on the story and are using it as much as they can.

I don't know anything about this case and maybe the lads who owned the hounds were honest lads that just had some bad luck ,but, at the moment here in Ireland there are a lot of lads getting into hounds ,mostly for driving foxes out of covert, who have no idea or experience of hounds.

They don't realise that if a shot is missed or a fox escapes unnoticed that hounds might hit that line and within minutes hounds are a mile or two from their handlers and if these hounds are not trustworthy then trouble can happen.

Also not for one single second do I think that this was a recognised hunt. Compare the size of the hounds ?

I hope this was an unfortunate incident but sadly in Ireland this year the rural papers have been full of sheep worrying incidents.

99% of the time irresponsible pet owners are to blame.
