*The*Field*Marshall* 674
Folks are murdered just for being Christian all the time, it rarely makes "the news" Christians in North Korea for example have been suffering horrendously just because of their faith. It is a rude awakening for many, but contrary to popular belief Jesus never promised a life of peace for those who chose to follow him, either back then or now. There are explanations for that. If you rely purely on the heavily filtered news we receive through the BBC, ITV, SKY etc and most papers, you’ll not get a true picture in all respects of what is really going on in the world, I learned this when I was in Niger, back in 2005. We entered the country via the Sahara from Libya. Just before Agadez whilst we were still traveling we seen this crowd, thousands and thousands of people huddled together, we was informed by the local tribe leader that they were waiting for food and that in 3 years it had not rained for more than 20 minutes. . Just then it started raining, well, hail stoning, they were size of marbles, the little kids running around, laughing, picking them up for consumption. I found out that Niger (a place I had never heard of before the trip commenced) was one of Africa poorest countries and at that time it was one of the worst famines on record for them. . When I got to Niamey (the capital) I called home, said to my mother “have you seen what’s happening on the news, over here?” She said there had been no mention of it. Now knowing she was always up to date with the news at hand, I quickly became suspicious, "are us folk at home only learning what the media want us to”? Of course that led me on to more thinking and research about it, since then I’ve been sourcing my information a little bit more carefully. I would encourage anyone reading this to do the same with things that matter to them. I didn’t expect to write so much! Excuse me.
