Born Hunter 17,960 Posted February 2, 2015 Report Share Posted February 2, 2015 (edited) It's strange for me, I find the middle east culturally quite interesting, I think it'd be great to experience the cultures/traditions/places/religions/people of Iraq, Iran, Syria, Egypt, Turkey etc. In fact I see that attitude as very defining of being British. As a nation, we have travelled the world over, learnt of much of the variety that the world has to offer and brought some of it back eventually incorporating into our own British culture. And yet I have absolutely zero desire to visit a mosque that is in my own country..... Integration for me isn't about understanding foreign cultures within my own, it's about foreign immigrants embracing our native culture and not flaunting their own. I am a firm believer in religious/cultural freedoms, but not when it involves creating rather large foreign subcultures within the host nation. That said, we're in the situation we're in now and understanding and knowledge of all around us can only be for the better. Ignorance is never an excuse....
