beast 1,884
1 keep calm, and breathe 2 have some notes to hand, just in case you freeze 3 power point slides or other illustrations are great for the audience, but even more importantly they prompt you 4 RSVP: rhythm, speed, volume, pitch 5 make eye contact with different audience members for 20-30 seconds at a time, and try to engage with every member at least once, if you can 6 do some research: don't get caught out when it gets to the "any questions" bit 7 practice 8 remember, it will all be over soon! seriously, although it may seem nerve wracking, public speaking is easy if you know your subject and have had a bit of practice. the more you do the easier it gets and remember that you are in the position of power, evrybody wants to hear what you have to say, and you have absolute control over that.so in effect, you have power over everything that happens in that room. good luck

Omanyra 2,518
Lots of good advice there matie It can be very daunting 10 years ago if anyone asked me to stand in front of an audience I would have said no way I do it every week now and it becomes like water off a ducks back and I get such a buzz from it Good luck
jonah. 775
It sounds obvious but make sure you understand the content your delivering. It gets easier the more you do it, as Kev stated, take your time and don't be scared of pausing briefly, drink of water, quick look at your notes...
Parabuteos lad 878
All went well guys thanks a lot have done 5 minute presentations in the past that where too short so was worried my 30 minute one would be the same but an icebreaker activity and an activity based on the subject helped slow me down. One of the things I knew I'd do is talk too fast, being a scouser doesn't help, and I was right that was part of the feedback I received but happy with how it went. Mushroom - so far I'm swung towards either generalist or L&D
