Nikon D700, had it for 4 years, they stopped making them now

Excellent pictures

What lens was used?

Thanks matie

Almost all of the time its a Nikon 300mm f4, with and without a Nikon 1.4tc..

When I go for something special and need a bit more scope I hire a Nikon 500mm f4 or a 400mm 2.8

The kingy above was shot handheld with a 300mm the ospreys were shot with a 500mm..

Thanks for the comment

Yes it's cheaper than forking out £7000 for a 500mm lens, but you still have to get the image

4 years ago if was in a hide for 5 hours per day for three days and got 1 diving osprey :-(

My 300mm lens is the one I use 99% of the time one of the sharpest lenses on the market and as I never use a tripod it's good for what I do, not bad prices on ebay second hand

Great pics mate....it makes me smile when people say that it's due to the decent lens and camera set-up that you get good pics....IMO it's all about who is on the other end of the lens.......

top class...JD

Cheers jd

Yes I've seen lots turn up on the day with serious gear and be disappointed

Thanks for the comments and the crack on the phone a few weeks back

What's your 300mm lense mate? I use a tamron 300 but would love a 500 just can't afford one :([/quote

I only use nikon gear if I was canon it would be L series lens, but there are some decent quality other makes on the market

Yes the 500mm is mint, sharp and quick to focus and out of my price range in afraid

Will hopefully be using it again for ospreys in July when I go up
