For some people it's a hobby and they just like dogs?   The dogs aren't just working tools to some folk.   I like having more than one dog and would happily have 3-4 dogs around me. Never would I

Aye work 2 or 3 together when on my ground its vast with alot of gullys bracken and reed beds they will work well together most times or with a bit of distance between them not very often you get the

The wonderful thing about dogs, and especially lurchers, is that they are so adaptable. Work alone, work as a team, lamping at night, bushing by day or ferreting. One dog at night on the lamp, but hal

Id prefer to have at least 3 lurchers in the kennel,at some time or another at least one of them will be laid up and some of the terrain i hunt would,nt be a viable option with 1 dog,no matter how good the dog.I had 2 dogs at hand this time last year, lost one and another as lost an eye,she is half the dog she was and is not up to the task,s at hand,at times, thus a third would have served me well.Between me and my lad we now have 3 saplings to bring on,ive the task of entering 2 of them, which ive often done, yet these 2 possibly need splitting up and bringing on as individuals. Some folks can only have one dog and have to cut their cloth accordingly, the luxury of a couple more is a desirable option for some,i don,t go with the theory that its harder to find graft for more than one dog,i find it can be so much easier, especially on the dogs.

I've just got the one dog at the moment. 16 month old lurcher. 24" and 40lb. And she does me fine. But...

There are times when I could really make use of something bigger for when we go out with the guns and use the dogs to track and retrieve stuff.

Then there are the times when the one dog will be injured, need resting or in season etc and it would be nice to have another dog to take out on the lamp.

Not to mention how much fun daytime mooching is with several dogs joining in on the hunt.

So I will be getting a pup in the new year.

I have had 2 lurchers for the last 6 1/2 years and have favoured one more than the other on the lamp but its good having the 2nd one incase of injuries or just when the other looks like it needs a rest , but i made the mistake of having the dogs close in age (year apart) ... think a 3 yr age gap at least would better so not to have 2 slowing down at the same time and needing to bring a third in ...

having said that ive just bought in a whippet x saluki lurcher so now have 3 lol ....but i have plans for the bitch all being well ..
