Deer Poaching Crack Down

Recommended Posts

If the plan was to fill the freezer getting it stressed & pumped up on adrenalin will do it no favours at all ...be like roadkill

Ive heard that before, its a load of pish, shot or galloped it tastes like venison, the age of the beast often dictates if its to be quick fried or casseroled for hours, nothing else.Hang it,cook it,eat it,kill it first.

What I can't understand is that the countries are over run with deer that are wild and to be honest cause damage to the forests etc when over populated, then the government gurn about the cost off culling when there's people who'd do it for free and the meat wouldn't go to waste either

i like the way the article said the deer were killed by lurchers then bludgeoned to death (has anybody even used the word "bludgeoned" since about 1920?). smart lurchers if they are able to carry a weapon to kill deer with.........

emotive clap trap yet again

Deer poaching has always gone on in Ireland but everybody knows it's now got out of hand.

I blame the recession and the increase in the venison market.

No body minded anyone taking one or two for the freezer but it's being done on a commercial scale now and it's ruining it for everyone. There's even chancers advertising "stalking" and don't even have permission where they're bringing they're clients.

The last stag I butchered had shotgun pellets in it and the stag before that had .22 bullets in it.

Mates of mine rang two farmers last week to tell them they'd be on the land that night after foxes. The next day they had a visit from the Gardi and a Wildlife Ranger accusing them of deer poaching.

Like I say, a few greedy b*****ds are ruining it for everyone.

:hmm:Yeah, a strange and antiquated term, to describe the killing of a large critter...

Facts are, a Fallow Buck would take a fair amount of bludgeoning,...seen it done,..its a bit grim

The article sounds a wee bit inacurate,...suspect even...
