/bait For Cage Traps ?

HI ALL JUST WONDERING WHAT BAITS APART FROM CARROTS ANYONE USES IN CAGE TRAPS FOR RABBITS, I ASK BECAUSE YESTERDAY I HAD NO CARROTS SO I TRIED PARSNIP WITH NO JOY, CHEERS PLUM!

I have tried cage traps a couple of months back with no luck. Going to try again in winter when less lush vegetation about. most folk here say carrot is fine, a few small pieces around trap, and leading into trap with most behind the trap plate.

 

Do a search, there is quite a lot of info about already, try youtube as well

Hi guys

 

Its worth putting them near to the rabbits runs seen in the grass. Keep the carrots going and make sure that they are cut length ways into large slices. Don't worry too much about putting some outside as they will find it.

 

We run about 30 at a time in some heavily infested areas and pick up 5-6 rabbits a day on a good day.

 

I have never tried apple or parsnip but both sound interesting. I think apple sounds a really good idea.

still no luck with the parsnips so i,v replaced it with carrot, lets see what tonight brings, cheers plum !

Use apple with the slightest brush of honey on one side only. The one side with the honey furthest away from the trap entrance.

all i ever use is carrot

looks easy nod, i,v struggled all week with two cages using carrots, the dog did catch one full of mxy though, would this explain why i can,t catch in the cages ? cheers plum !
