A Few Hours Out Lamping With The Falcons

Me and tom headed up to one of the north Yorkshire perms yesterday tea time no been in a while as bunny's were getting few and far between.

Walked a few laps 1st and bagged the 1st bunny whithin 5 mins of arriving always a nice start managed to stalk right up and took the shot around 20yd nice head shot.

Then 10 mins later tom bagged a pigeon with his new 20 bore christened 2 new guns in 10 mins happy days!! Was a long range shot with a bit of lead tucked it's wings in and down it came.

Then around 20 mins later tom was walking in front and hit the deck in a flash a fox around 20yd away looking straight at us! We had the shotguns and heavy loads as farmer having problems with the fox stealing hens but a shot wouldn't be given it vanished into thin air we crept along a overgrown stream bed for the next 15 mins knowing that it wasn't far away the sly bugger crept along with us only a few yards away at a time but invisible to us and didn't move a leaf or make a sound after thinking it was long gone and it was a blackbird toying with us a huge dog fox dived out of the undergrowth 5 yd max and did a victory dance all the way a long the opposite field a shot wasn't really possible as dense undergrowth gave it the edge!! That was him long gone .

We headed back to landy got the lamps set up and began driving laps bagged 10 in end 7 rabbits 2 hares some cracking shots too we had a couple more that kicked off with nerves into thick undergrowth and unfortunately couldn't find them but sure Mr Fox will enjoy them. oh and a pigeon great night and christened 3 new guns as took a hare and 2 bunny's with the hatsan at44 and was very impressed with its accuracy rest were with mine and toms fn19s

Great night even watched a barn owl hunting for a few mins. not bad bag for few hours was home for 1 am

A nice outing - harvest is better than Christmas! It also gives a nice feeling knowing that the undergrowth will die back soon and then we can go out for a wander on cold crispy mornings. Seeing that barn owl hunting made the night not seen one for a while. The falcons where brilliant too with a nightmaster 800 its a great set up. Looking forwards to going back asap its fantastic land and the farmer is great too he braught us out a carrier bag full of plums too! Nice to spend a night out matty will go again soon.
