Comical Or Cocky Moments Out In Field

Recommended Posts

Out lamping local with my cousin last season, we went our separate ways, I ended up walking around this hedgerow, flicked the lamp on and there stood 20 yards in front of me was an evil looking clown, 6ft tall with his hood up and purple trousers. It made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up for a moment before I realised it was a scarecrow with a mask on.

Had to look back a few times as I walked away, just to be sure

i was out mooching last season with 3 lads of this site and i think it was the first time they had seen my dog working. we was walking about on a hillside in the middle of nowhere when we come to a gully to cross. on the other side of this gully was a tiny little pool of water with 2 ducks on it, so for a laugh i said watch this i will get the dog to catch one of them and the lads were like yeah right as you do. anyway just before i set off to cross the gully with my dog one of the lads said he would pay for the breakfasts if my dog caught it.

i had spent the morning telling them how my dog had never took feather in the day before so he must have thought he was onto a winner. anyway i got across to the otherside of the gully with the dog on a slip as we appeared over the top the ducks spotted us and at the same time the dog spotted them as i slipped the the dog the duck went to take off he had just got off the ground/water wings open and flapping then bang the dog plucked him out of the air with all 3 lads watching. i remember thinking feck me that was lucky

breakfast tasted better than ever that morning.

Aha let me share a great moment I had with my dogs. . Back in the spring of last year, I'm walking my terrier and three long dogs down a permissive pass through a field, one of the long dogs was but a pup of six months at the time. . No quarry around so the dogs are off enjoying their own company, around the corner we go to meat a dozen or so inquisitive bullocks (Great) now the dogs are comfortably keeping away from the them (I always keep dogs off around cattle) I speed up around the remaining corner and straight ahead are ewes and lambs (OK - odd) but when I see the land drover pull up to the gate and farmer getting out of it!! I'm feeling got under the collar (for the pup) . . "Come!" "Heel" I shout out and command, all four like iron to magnet come to and stick to me all the way to the gate, despite the cattle sniffing at our heals and sheep running ! . I walked through the passage, farmer leaning after watching our every move said to me as I passed "you'm got them well trained young'un" "thank you sir" I snapped back. . Haha left feeling well and truly SMUG was I as clipped them up for the road home. .

mine was with the 2 mates out digging this day, my we border bitch was generally great with stock, but th mates lurcher buster was a dodgy b*****d with live stock. anyhow we were walking toward the holes when the sheep lifted and run when i called titch over just as glen said my dogs good with stock now since ive knocked his balls in a few times, well famous last words didnt his dog and mine take off after the sheep and his lurcher took hold of it. to say we were raging was an under statement. that dog of his got disciplined well that day, but the c**t was never trustable and was dodgy with dogs too, the only reason he was kept because he worked well where it counted. but the sheep was fine as it was over quick as it started.
