fitchet 788
Got chatting to a local dog lad this morning about dogs of years ago and the challenges that were thrown about he's a fan of heavy type running dogs and seems to know a fair bit about the history of these types. The conversation moved on to minshaws blue I thought this dog was supposed to be truly unbeaten but he says different reckons it was beaten on rabbits by a young dog is this true ?? Just out of curiosity. Edited June 25, 2014 by fitchet Quote Link to post

FUJI 17,729
To be fair the dog that "beat" it caught twenty odd bunnies on the given night..now lets not get too excited by that ..christ ive seen a pure Greyhound catch 26 .. more than the collie x that "beat" Blue on that occasion, every dog has its day/night,never EVER heard of the Collie x doing anything else out the ordinary EVER as for Blue well it caught a wee bit..We are talking over 30 years ago here, even I was a teenager lol..I have three dogs bred down off Blue, was it better than mine or what ive had bred down from him in the past? Well having seen old Blue run plenty of times my answer is in my opinion NO..he was a lamp dog only, good dog at that task but a one trick pony..anyhow he produced some canny dogs and his blood still does as for the Collie x well I think he's living off the glory of a substandard night on the bunnies,I know the dog was a nice type, infact my type of mutt very collie looking, was real obedient infact it used to retrieve its bunnies, walk around you and sit at your feet with its catch ..fair play to dog and owner on that occasion both had done their homework and were right on the button for that one night..nothing wrong imo getting whooped now and again in this game especially when its by a decent if not a world beater of a jukel and when the dogs owned by a proper nice lad it doesn't hurt as much haha..Atb Andy 3 Quote Link to post
