Are Dogs More Famous Than Bitches

Recommended Posts

Why do dogs seem to get a better name and legend status than bitches. If a breeding takes place it's always the dog that gets the credit or blame. And there seems to be a lot of people talking about top quality dogs than bitches. Any thoughts anyone?

if you look at the previous winners of the forley cup there is a lot more bitches that have won it than dogs ..a good dog seems a lot more rare then good bitches ..

most people who have litters the bitches always seem to go first for that reason.most people like to increase there chances of getting a good animal there for they tend to go for bitches.

it seems a bigger percentage of bitches tend to make the grade.what iam trying to say is when a good dog comes about the word quickly spreads.but as they say it takes two to tango .

I prefer dogs then bitches I seem to get on with them better.and as throwing to the bitches side or the sire side its down to the genes .it can throw either way.somtimes more to the sire and sometimes more to the bitch...in my opinion.

personally i think bitches are they key it is widely thought that the bitches through 80 per cent of the genetics into offspring

80per cent no chance a pup can throw to the sire or the bitch or past sire and dam. This % thing is bull shit imo
tbh i heard the same 80% of the genetics

I see it slightly differently.

If you own a bitch, she can have a few litters, so could be the mother of say 50 pups maximum (that's a rough average of 5 litters of 8), but if that bitch is to prove herself first, and is also given time to develop, that would mean the first half or so of her life she would be training, developing, allowed to learn, then earning a reputation by proving herself.

So she is 6 or so and then can maybe have 2 litters so in fact produces 5-12 pups.

Where as a dog of the same age, training, development and ability can father hundreds and hundreds of pups and have a bigger impact than a bitch.

That's why I think we have more big names that have testicles.... I.e. I have just bought a whippet pup, looking back in her pedigree you see a lot of sooty sam and lord of the knight (in fact on a few lines she is a bit in bred to sooty sam) that's possible for a dog as he can father so many litters where as a bitch can only have 1 or at the most 2 a year and that's a lot out of a bitch.

I prefer bitches, snoopdog says he clicks with dogs, well I do with bitches its a personality thing mine and theirs, so I doubt I will ever have a famous name

Oh and regards throwing to the sire or dam.

Looking at my kids, my lad is big and looks like me, but he is very like his mam in personality.

My daughter is good looking and like her mam , but is a raging pyscho, my wife says that she is like me? In fact my eight year old lass has a few times got the better of her 15 year old 6'06" brother in a scrap

Genetics are a funny thing and you don't know what your going to get in looks, personality or ability....

i dont think the bitch passes on more genes but she can pass on her attitude and behaviour while she is rearing them.
