Tiny 7 1,694
I had one yrs ago but the normal style but small... Without a doubt it would last a life time as its top quality But I dont know what it is I just prefer normal leather greyhound collars 2 Quote Link to post

WhiteN 15
DeerhoundLurcherMan - out of interest, any reason why you didnt get a 1.1/2 inch for your pup, im trying to decide between either a 2" wide, a 1.1/2" wide or a 2" wide tapered to 1"?????? Quote Link to post
DeerhoundLurcherMan 997
I originally bought a 2 inch for the big dog and 1,1/2 for the pup, but they were to big. So the big dog has the 1,1/2 and I bought a 1 inch for the pup. The 1,1/2 is good for big lurchers like bull xs or deerhound xs ect but look silly on smaller racy types, thats where the 1 inch ones come in, there not weedy little things like I thought they might be. The pup in the pic is a saluki lurcher 25 inches tall... The 2 inch 5 ply collar looked to big on my 27 inch 33kg dog. They are for mastiff size dogs IMO... Quote Link to post
morton 5,369
If anybody needs the reality check of an overkill collar,an accident in waiting, look at DeerhoundLurchermans pics, the collar on the coloured dog is ??,wrong. When the lads set off to Appleby ive seen collars smaller than that on big shaggy grass chewing dog food. Bosun11 537
Anyone who thinks Strong Stuff's lurcher collars are too much for a running dog ain't never seen one! They'll look right on the sleekest Saluki cross and come tiny enough for micro whippets. He made 'em right, to fit, after comments about his heavier collars on running dogs. I have a prototype here, from when SS first made 'em, it's been on my half cross ever since, day in day out, never washed, unless he goes for a rare dip and looks better with age.... The plan is to keep this collar with the same programme and see how many lurchers it gets through in its life... An i'm betting it'll see me out, never mind the dogs...! Morton, couldn't agree with you more on collar overkill on some hounds on here but these things are for running dogs.... Remember, 'ol SS will make you exactly what you ask for.... So do get it right, Your dogs whole image depends on it..!!! Quote Link to post
DeerhoundLurcherMan 997
Whats wrong with it morton? Why is that more of an accident waiting rather than a 1 inch collar at the same tightness? Quote Link to post
morton 5,369
I first became aware of them at a show I attended,i looked, perused and walked,i realised my mutts at 26" and 28" did not do them justice.Ive seen them on dogs, not for me. Quote Link to post

But I agree with Morton put it on a 25 tts bull x Lurcher and looked like it was for something out of Appleby. Gave the collar down to my father for his bull. Give it's due it looks good on that. But Fook me would need dog bout 30tts and a tank for look right on running dog 1 Quote Link to post

Weight pull, personal protection etc. Cane Corso, Presa canario, Pits, Dogos etc. Not just UK market but Europe aswell. He never intended lads to put them on a 23" 40lb lurcher and moan they are too chunky. He saw the demand from lurcher lads and started making the tapered collar. Completely different piece of kit. 1 Quote Link to post
