Can not think what year it was but a hare ran down dogs were un sited so hare did not get run, it stopped Sat for a second or so then just droped dead so yes they can just drop dead.

 

Has for moving hares from place to place in crates a keeper told me if you net your lucky to get half to the new ground,,,jack

Hares are very susceptible to shock, there are special boxes to move them from place to place, i have seen them but can't remember what they look like.
