OldhamLad 66
Good Evening People, What are your views regarding releasing rabbits onto pasture free from rabbits? Success stories? Failure Stories? I know this is a touchy subject, But its all theoretical this thread If Someone was to decide on releasing some rabbits what would the general cost be per rabbit? Quote Link to post
R.A.W 1,987
....... The cost could be more than Financial. No comment to the rest . Quote Link to post
pie-eater 377
I have a couple of fields near me that 20 years ago were hop fields and they were full of rabbits. About the time they took the hops out the rabbits disappeared. Ive thought about releasing a few out there but there must be a reason they died out or left. Its a strange thing though because it looks like it should hold a few. Quote Link to post
paulus 26
as said unless you understand why their not there then any effort to repopulate would be pissing into the wind Quote Link to post
nans pat 2,575
last year on here somebody restocked a golf course apparantly its doing well. Quote Link to post
OldhamLad 66
What about adding to fields to where rabbits already exist in an adjacent field? Alot of places near me are locked off by busy roads and housing so I think they struggle to migrate into these areas Quote Link to post
The one 8,593
I always thought if the rabbits in your area have a half decent year the weakest hill be looking for new places to populate , if theres no rabbits there its due to a reason Quote Link to post
OldhamLad 66
Thats true, good call The One. Quote Link to post
R.A.W 1,987
You could reduce the predator population too. Which always helps 1 Quote Link to post
OldhamLad 66
luckily, the farmer shoots them regularly so realistically in the next few years there might be a rabbit boom! heres hoping for another dry summer Quote Link to post
Andrew Beirne 78
There must be a reason there not there and maybe they will come back but all you can do is hope for a good year for them to breed Quote Link to post
