any one ever eaten fox???

I was just wondering if any one on here has have eaten fox, if so what was it like and is there any thing you wouldnt eat for love nor money ??

I can only refer ye to my own post about moles, mate. Chris the legendary tasted fox. His verdict was, " F*cking disgusting! ". But moles?! They beat even fox, hands down!

 

Frankly, I wouldn't put either in my mouth. Though I'd be curious about a taste of badger

 

Yanks eat bears with relish. Surely their diets must be vaguely similar? Again, hedgehog tastes fine and their diet can't be a million miles removed.

 

Maybe moles and foxes taste so bad because they both live on a diet almost exclusively of Eart Worms!

apparently badger isnt too bad ditch, was talking to someone who aid they knew someone who tryed it or along those lines! very fatty though, when your skinning it you get covered in it, but overall the meat wasnt too bad. his mates didnt complain till he told them what it was this was a young one specifically chosen for the pot.

Tried it once and no matter how long you boiled it it tasted of dog sh-t ive since been told you have to be carefull not to taint the meat with their anal glands but i aint willing to try it again :sick:

in one of plummers books, i think rogues and running dogs he says he ate badger and he said it was so foul his ferrets wouldnt even eat it :sick: id try fox ,badger,mole etc i fancy trying squirrel ive heard of a few people skinning them then cutting off there legs and just having them on the fire, i want to eat the cheeky bloody cat which keeps shitting in my garden

I skinned one once with the intention of eating it and the meat looked quite nice, lean and dark reddish, but the stinky musky smell put me off and I chickened out

I would try it if someone dished it up in front of me, doubt I would go to the effort of gutting and skinning etc.

have eaten it,but marinated in loads of chinese herbs and dried strange things ,tasted ok,my dog wouldnt touch it when i tried to give it some.

general rule of thumb is anything that is a carnivore you should stay away from and anything that is a veggy is all good .

In the eighties i used to sell a lot of fox skins to the trade and the bodies were given to a cantonese restaurant ,where im told it was a delicasy .I never stuck around to ask how it was done .
