Ferreting Books

Recommended Posts

The wife wants to buy me a 'ferreting book' from the kids for my b/day, can anyone recommend a decent read?

Seen these ones ......

1- The complete Guide to Ferrets ( James McKay)

2- Ferreting: An Essential Guide ( Simon Whitehead )

3- Ferreting: A Traditional Country Pursuit ( D. Bezzant )

4- Ferreting & Ferreting Handbook ( J. McKay )

5- Ferrets & Ferreting ( Ian C . Rickard )

6- Ferret Breeding ( James McKay )

7- Hunting with Ferrets ( David Bezzant )

8- Working Ferrets 2nd Edition ( Jackie Drakeford)

This is the mould which everyone since, it seems, has tried to put back together, by plagiarism.

This was the (Post Modern) 'The Book' for Ferreters.

Anything before those is now into the realms of Book Collectors material.Though, Fred J. Taylor may be worth checking out?

Anything since ....? I've struggled to find anything I wouldn't sling in the stove.

I would go for the Simon Whitehead book, as its more up to date, it even has a couple of pages on the new mark3 M finder.

There's nothing like getting out there and doing it, but Mrs Country Joe bought me it for my Birthday, and I did enjoy it, found it a decent read.

Iv just read the latest simon whitehead book and it is fantastic. Its really up to date and he talks about all the old school ferret myths and ways and explains how things have changed in terms of feeding etc. I enjoyed it anyway.

What's it called mate, I ll have a look for it?
