yeah i have thought about this a lot. i always assumed that politicians didnt want to be seen as racists so didnt raise the issue, but the rspca are supposed to be non political so i wondered why they never said anything. this would answer that question if it is true

Perfectly good way to kill an animal, quick, clean etc don't start cutting your nose off to spite your face!

if no better or more humane ways are available then yes i agree but the fact is its done in the name of religion and not animal welfare

Similar argument was used around the ban...running quarry with dogs for example....more humane ways etc...

I understand where your coming from Paulus but to be fair the point made by Sandy is a valid one let's face it for many of us pre ban if running certain quarry then it was a quick, clean, efficent way

yes i have done it myself but out of necessity not choice. are you really saying if you were going to set up a slaughter house then this would be your first choice of slaughter methods. if there was no alternative i would agree wholeheartedly but the fact is there is no need for this method in todays world other than to pander to a religious belief founded over 700 years ago

sorry mate not on this 1, i worked at butchers where he had his slaughterhouse .My job was to hoist then up on a chain, when they been stunned. and would be killed by the slaughter man. And it was very quick+humane, not like this primitive rag heads, they killing sheep+goats like thet did 1000 years ago, and thats why, they couldnt give a shit for any animal .!!

Completely agree and you def won't find me defending that form of slaughter as I don't agree with it but at the same time I'm not arguing that others shouldn't have the right if they choose, it's also a valid question why are those that screamed before the ban are also not shouting from the roof tops about halal!!

My point is it's peoples opinion that halal is cruel and that there are better methods of slaughter just as there were those that forced THEIR opinions on US that hunting a fox with hounds/running deer or hares with lurchers etc. was cruel and that there were more efficient less cruel methods of control. I guess what I'm saying is that even though I disagree with halal slaughter along with a lot of other things having and currently experiencing the feeling of having someone else's views forced on me and preventing me from lawfully continuing with a way of life/pastime that didn't actually effect anyone else then I'm wary of doing the same for something else that doesn't actually effect me (however distasteful I personally find it)

its not quite the same though is it!! animals and pest have to be controlled for various reasons even if all hunting was banned there would still be a need to kill animals so the method of slaughter would still be an issue unless we all turned veggie
