Malt 379
Kids at my daughters school recently staged a walk out in support of a kid who shaved his hair for a cancer charity.. My daughter asked if she could take part and I said yes, seeing as they (the teachers) ain't shy about walking out whenever they deem they have reason too.. They didn't like it, threatened the kids with suspension, expulsion all sorts.. One rule for them.. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-south-west-wales-24398589

Drebz87 39
How would you evaluate teachers performance though? a standardised across the board evaluation of performance would not work, a teacher with a class that has alot of pupils with little home support and help in poorer areas and a well of area with all the help from parents going to parents evening and helping there children would obviously help a pupil it cannot all be the teachers at fault for some children not interested in education or caring to improve themselves surely? i know there are some bad teachers out there but there is some gifted teachers doing there best with what they have, so how do you base a performance related pay scheme? it cannot all be judged on academic performance of the pupils. I think head teachers should have the power to dismiss poor teachers and give bonuses to successful and hard working teachers, surely that would buck the bad teachers into shape or get rid of? teachers cannot all be lumped into one category as there are always going to be bad and good in any sector its weeding the weak or bad teachers and promoting and giving good teachers the credit they deserve that is required. neil82 1,088
scrap any idea of performance related pay then, but keep the right to sack the poor teachers, why the f**k they think they have the right to a job for life with, whatever anyone thinks, is a bloody good salary with plenty of benefits, no matter how shite they are at it, and as for going on strike, do what parents have to do, do it in the holidays, had some real sadistic b*****ds when I was in school that nowadays would end up inside for child battering, but the good ones I still call sir or miss because they deserve it
