Recommended Posts

Had my dogs on straw for years..

When its - I put coats on them as well..

I am going to give waxed shredded paper a shot this year :victory:

Blankets stink and I would not wash them.. Gets your machine f****d full of dog hair..

Personal preference but I have tried blankets, they aint great n my opinion :victory:

Shredded paper ends up everywhere giro, I could get as much straw as I ever wanted do you not find the dogs coat ends up dusty? We have our own washing machine and a washing machine for the dog beds etc. a dog in a good kennel shouldn't need more than vet bed but a few dog fleece blankets make it a bit better for them.

Aye they do get dusty when it starts breaking down..

I change it regular and give the dogs a daily brush..

Straw gets dragged out but I just keep sweeping it up :laugh:

If Had separate washing machine I would use it.. I send the coats to local tack shop where they wash horse coats..

They must have some big machine..

Folk rate this waxed paper.. I aint ever used it before but going to get some today, see how it goes

Got my kennels insulated with kingspan and bed the dogs down on shredded paper, dogs beds are 14" of the floor and draft free, also heat lamp in every individual kennel, certainly does the trick for mine

That must knock you a few bob over the year / season.

Straw for me, but as said, can get a bit dusty.

I've tried shredded paper, straw, shredded cardboard etc. All kept the dogs warm but gets blown all over the garden and ingested by dogs when they take meaty bones in the kennel etc.

I think alot depends on your setup as to what works best for you.

I've used carpet and a dog bed for the summer and then I will put a big blanket in over the winter and wash/dry every couple of weeks.

I'm going to use a heat lamp this winter. Not used one before but heard loads of good reports from lads who have.

Mine are on nedz bedz at the moment which is quite good.

In the winter I have them on either shredded jay cloth, nappy's or tea bag paper.

I am not a fan of shredded paper waxed or unwaxed.
