Lab 10,979
If I've one criticism of the Scotland team it was our size. Two small strikers, we could have done with an out ball instead of having to resort to lung bursting runs. I'd have played mulgrew up front with Millar and brought Maloney on in the 70th. Iv never agreed with that ethos. Imo if your Good enough your Big enough. Its Football not Rugby. And thats why the British game is in the state its in, Its about time we learnt kids from a early age to play football instead of just lumping it at every oppertunity. It should be about keeping the ball. Attacking as a Team and Defending as a Team. Your winning goal was scored by a lump of a lad using his head. We scored from a corner but the ball was on the deck. You need someone with height in around the box, we had 2ft Maloney and 5ft Millar. I agree little players are fine too but even the great Larson wouldn't have been so prolific without the services of the larger sutton and hartson. Harston is my all time favorite player at flicking on a ball wi the heed.....................legend in my eyes!!..

I'd like to see him at Celtic in a coaching role. He could hold the ball up like no other, we all know mon liked a long ball but when worked right it was poetry in motion. You could see larsson running to where he knew it was going, fainting a run to the left, all the while big John knew exactly where the wee man wanted it, class

An old saying is a good bigun will beat a good littleun and it's probably true.

The oldest girl went on a action camp when she was 12 and Big John was doing a motivational speech for them and she said he was a great guy, said how inspired she was by him, she said he had loads of time for all the kids.........she never realised he was such a famous football player she thought he was just some guy who'd had cancer and beaten it.
baw 4,360
It was sad when he got that mate, I feared the worse. We've had a few players had some bad diseases, illnesses in recent years. Tommy burns, jinky johnstone, Morton weighorst, stilian Petrov, Alan Stubbs, big John.

baw 4,360
With regards the anthems Flower of Scotland has a real meaning to me, I carried my best friends coffin to a lone bag pipe player playing it, his father was Scottish.... It always gets me, and last night was no different, I was fishing a loch mate, was about 8 at night, can't mind the loch but it was narrow, mountains down to the water. Water was like glass, dead still, midges eating me alive lol but ahem, anyhow, in the distance, vibrating off the mountains up the loch was a piper playing, just me and the only noise was the piper, it was f***ing awesome and something ill never forget. neems 2,406
Does anyone else think this is how we end up with Scottish tramps all over England? They miss the bus and just carry on with the party, until 6 months later you see them outside asda asking for 20p so they can buy a pack of space raiders.
