theres one on this weekend in borris. good show and kids are free into the main fair

Not to mention free admin for the lurcher and terrier folk...

FREE ADMIN or FREE ADMISSION? If it is FREE admission to the main Fair have to say well done to Ian - we are only offering terrier, whippet & lurcher folk two days for the price of one but of course also the best prizes in Ireland.

People wanting to race their dogs on Saturday AND show their dogs at Birr on Sunday email me at irishgamefair@btinternet.com for details of 2 days for the price of one.

Great offer for the two for the price of One, do kids go free at Birr?

All the best with the show.

Thanks for your good wishes for Birr, Irish Lurcher:

Our Pricing is based on more than just Admission INTO the main fair for EVERYONE but also access to the world famous gardens, Science Centre and other attractions of the Demesne.

THE NORMAL PRICES FOR ADMISSION to the attractions of the Demesne are :

Adults €9 Children €5 Family 2+2 €25

OVER THE FAIR THESE ATTRACTIONS ARE ALL INCLUDED IN THE VERY REASONABLE CHARGES of

Admission Charges : Adult €15

Family Ticket (two adults and up to four children) €35

Additional children €5.

Car Parking and Show Guide Free of Charge

I think you will probably find that the FREE ADMISSION TO BORRIS THAT YOU QUOTED FOR BORRIS FOR TERRIER & LURCHER FOLK IS NOT INTO THE MAIN FAIR - but as I said good for Ian if he managed to negotiate this. OUR TWO DAYS FOR ONE ADMISSION CHARGE FOR TERRIER & LURCHER ENTHUSIASTS gives everyone the chance to really enjoy all of the attractions of BIRR and the DEMESNE.

Well written reply.

You seen to be on top off things so it seems, pity about the charge for kids, What other shows charges for parking?... Nearly as bad as charging for kids.

John, I thought you were something of an expert on shows/events! - lots of events charge for parking including quite a few of the agricultural shows and most charge for programmes and kids. I don't think it fair to charge a couple ( of even say young guys) the same as families and that is one of the reasons why we make a nominal charge for children within a family ticket. It makes very little difference really in that at Shanes we charge £25 for a family ticket for up to four children - nominal charge £1.25 per child. Moira charge £24 for two adults and accompanied children 'free' so at Shanes the extra charge over Moira is c .25p per child! We concentrate on giving families lots of VALUE for money FREE entertainment inside the fair with living history villages etc specially provided to both entertain and educate and two ongoing arenas plus good interaction on quite a few attractions. At Birr there are many existing onsite attractions which normally cost €5 admission per child and these are provided within the price of admission to the fair giving additional family value for the admission price and a really big day out for the whole family. VALUE for money is more important to families rather than promotional pricing and of the ROI events Birr does give families the best value for money!

A Tribute to the late John Shaw who passed away  last Thursday 6th November 25

      I Am Free
Do not grieve for me now my  friends and family, I am free
I am following the path God Laid for me
I took his hand when I heard him call
I turned my back and left it all
I could not stay another day
To Love, to live, to hunt, to show my treasured Whippets, or play.
I found a peace at close of day.
Be not burdened with the times of sorrow
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow
Perhaps my time seemed all to brief
Do not lengthen it now with undue grief
Lift up your hearts my friends and share with me
      God wanted me now,
      He set me free.
John, we will love you forever and you will be sadly missed by your loving family and all your Country Sporting Fraternity and in the show ring.
May the Angels above give you the best seat in Heaven and may your gentle soul rest in peace.
      For Country Sports Fraternity
      Margaret Mc Stay
