Mixi Is Coming!!!!!!!!!!!

Just been for a walk with the rim fire onto 3 fields that I have permission on by request of the farmer to thin the rabbits out a bit before he reseeds it. On climbing over the gate the first field was heaving rabbits of all sizes sat out the first one I put the cross hairs on reviled swollen eyes the dreaded mixi! Then the next 4 I shot were clean the last too were just starting with it , any one else noticed any mixi anywhere?

Typical only 8weeks until September ,numbers look good all summer then it comes. Il keep going there a few times a week and shoot what I can at least it keeps this years kits in flesh

I keep my horses on watership down and the last few weeks the dogs have picked up a few with mixy but there seems to be more and more of them surviving it these days.

mixi's been on one of my perm since last ferreting season ,been taking them with the air gun when I see them ,its weird because its not infected loads of rabbits just odd ones ,I've taken healthy rabbits from the same sets that mixy rabbits are coming out of ,was gutted last year had a crap season what with the mixy ,bad weather,being ill and to cap it off bunnies breeding early ,better this year hopfully atb rob

Thats the big question do you kill all the myxi rabbits because theres still time for some of them to recover and breed ?.

It's a catch 22 leave them to see if they recover or kill as many as you can you don't know what to do for the best

Its comes it goes yet the humble coney will live on.

If you speak to old timers like my dad who wittnessed the huge highs during ww11 as a boy to the huge lows .

 

In the flood of 2007 one farm I would say lossed 99% of its coeny population yet within 5 years it was back to pre 2007 wipeout.

Cut across a piece of land last night with a couple of dogs and the old bitch had 5 all within a hundred yards of each other and they all had it, what a waste its a horrible disease

the rabbit needs more credit I think, they are ultimate survivors imo. from being attacked by man, disease and predator. and yet they still strive and multiply amazing little things.

I almost sound like an anti mixi will always flare up in places though.

Not seen any sign of mixi by me yet touch wood it stays clear past few years it been really bad, last season was bad with the bad weather and mixi I only had a few trips out
