French Game Fair This Weekend

Recommended Posts

I was in france for the last ten days on holiday, when realised that the fair in chambord was starting on friday i deided to take a trip across to it.

However, aa route planner showed a 374km drive each way, and an overnight stay wasnt possible, because we were traveling home today, so with train bus and taxi i made a four hour journey to chambord.

I have to say it is a fine show, and i think it was worth my time to travel. A lot of equipment, clothing, books etc. I didnt see any hounds which was a disappointment, i think they may have been on the cards for saturday or even later on friday, but im glad to say i met some of the french terrier men, and luckily thier english is better than my french. had a bit of banter with them , and this its self made the trip worth while . I bought one of their silver federation buttons, and will have it as a reminder of a day out in france.

Hard to compare it to other shows, probably three times bigger than the welsh gamefair, not as many terriers, not any lurcher or ferrets that i could see.

Its a good show, and i would go again sometime and do the three days .

I didnt make it up there, lot of things juggling in the air this month, the half a day drive lost its appeal - what with the weather not being the best. I went in 2004 so im due another look. Just got my bow-hunting ticket so was interested in trying out a few bits and bobs. Oh well, next year fingers crossed.

Glad you had a good day IrishFH. Always nice to different cultures style of the same love. The hounds were probably there just around a corner or something, 100's of different packs with nearly as many different types of hounds. Favourite of mine is the Billy & the Griffin Nivernais.
