Rabbit Numbers

Recommended Posts

now ive been doubting meself lately about the rabbit numbers local to me,.....................there everywhere and I keep thinking I say this every year but after a chat to a couple local dog walkers who ive known a few years have said the same,.............did the wet spell have an influence on this last year........I wonder.?........

anyway we have missed the dreaded mixy here for the last three years with numbers not usually being as high as normal so its been a good thing ,..............but with all the local bunnies now I reckon it will hit us this year around august ...........natures way of controlling high numbers, well it will be interesting but if we miss again this year we will be having a few slips,........

its lovely to see nature hitting back and populating areas what haven't seen the humble rabbit for a while.......and to top things off was a vixen with three cubs in the field behind me playing.............as soon as the maze comes up I will have slight relieve knowing that the cubs will have more protection...........well I hope everyone has a good coming season and lets hope the rabbit population are hitting back in places around you................

I have a lot of respect for them as much as I liked to hunt them with dogs before our ban........I enjoy there company and even tho problem foxes might deservedly meet a bullet,...............the place would be doomed with out them.....

I spend too much of my time down with you mate, and yes, last year the wet summer f****d them. We did some spots that no one else can ferret, or hunt and were getting 2 out of warrens that in previous years were good for 25-30. Also noticed pretty much everything we killed was not born last summer, but in the previous year. A lot of warrens were flooded out. Hopefully this winter will be better, as we have plenty of land to go at!

I know exactly what your saying wilf you see more this time of year, every year and that's why I doubted my thoughts but others have said this year is thriving but if the disease returns after being on holiday for a couple of years then that would put it right back aswell.....

edit too say im not fooking stupid you homo erectus,............you think I say this every year,........its a good start and your obviously right they will thin out in September like they always do..........but if you visit the same places for years on end even this idiot can tell its a good start for rabbit numbers,...........you be little me on the internet but you wont take my freedom......:D
