Card Fraud. Be Aware.

Recommended Posts

I just got off the phone to my banks fraud department. Over the last few days someone has been transfering money off my card to Western Union. Apparently they could have got the details of my card from anywhere I have used the card, if their security has been compromised.

Luckily I spotted it today and I have had all the monies paid back into my account, as they seen it as a clear case of fraud. They have been trying to use the card since the second of April but most were declined as there were insufficient funds LOL sometimes it pays to be in the red.

The wife was contacted last summer because her card had been cloned and someone in the US was trying to take money out of her account. Like yourself TC, there were insufficient funds available which was lucky!

About a decade ago now, I was sitting there at my computer, minding my own business. Phone rings and it's NatWest. Asked me where I was! I said I was at my computer. " You're not in China then? Much as we thought. " :icon_eek:

Turns out, some f**ker was trying to use my plastic ~ f**king China, of all places! WTF?!

Fair play to the bank though. They spotted it and that was that

Happened to me 6-7 years ago. I went to take money out to pay the guys that worked for me at the time and couldn't get what i wanted. Turns out someone went on a shopping spree to the tune of 1400 quid...feckin coontz......

.....and just last week i went to pay my moby bill. After asking why it was so high...she said i had 2 accounts...i said no i dont!!! Coont has had an account in my name since Aug 2011 and i didn't even notice...need to look at my bills more closely in the future :censored:

Much as I don't like the "big brother" concept of having them monitor stuff like that - it can work in your favour. Last summer I got a call from the bank asking about my card, and security etc, because there had been " unusual activity " noted on it, which got flagged up on their system, so they phoned to check what's happening.

Earlier that morning I had had a call from my sister, who had been at the hairdressers, having cut/colour/all sorts of unnecessary faffing crap done to her hair. She had swapped handbags that day ( more than 1 FFS ? what is that about ? ) and had not got her purse with her, so she asked me to pay the bill over the phone for her, and she'd pay me back ( too right she would ! ). Having only been to a hairdressers once in my life ( 1988 ! ) and hated the experience so much I never went again... charging £95 to a hairdresser was deemed to be "unusual" for my account !

had the same happen to us the lads that work for us all have a credit card for fuel and hotels etc

had it happen a good few times, all traced back to our foreign friends at the petrol stations

......same thing happened to me and it was Sri Lankans that worked in a petrol station .....I had just came back from abroad and put fuel in the car at a service station going back to Scotland but I had not used the card in months and never used it again after paying for the fuel so it was obvious to the bank who had done it .....the bankgirl on the phone gave me a good insight in to what they were doing ....

had mine done twice in the last 12 months or so, same as tiercel, western union in vienna, fraud dept spootted it, all monies refunded etc. It really grips my shit why bog standard working class people like me try to earn a crust the hard way, and some clever c**t abroad tries to earn their money by doing f**k all other than taking the short cut, i.e, doing f**k all for it, the ones we hear about are the spotted ones, how many go un noticed i wonder ?????/

Does my f****n head in, had the second new card just recently, good on Barclays fraud dept for spotting them.

thats exactly how they had mine and a good few of the locals from the surounding area, cost the garage owner a new set of windows ;) , that was all mind, he blamed the whole thing on hired help claiming he had no knowledge, thing that sticks in the troat is the place is alive with cameras, he'd soon known if they'd been dipping the till.....
