Kay 3,709
There had always been a bit of a mystery relative on my mothers side of the family , a ggg uncle of mine who was in the Australian army & served in both WW & WW i started to poke about the net to see if i could find anything, my mom had post cards & pics he sent to his mother & sister , so after a random search I found his WW1 records online He was always known by his mothers maiden name & was listed on the census as that , but he wasn't the eldest child , so our theory regarding him being born before his mom married was pretty much thrown my the wayside I guess we will never know why he used his mothers maiden name & why he ended up in Australia. , just thought I would share a few of the documents & a couple of pics of him I have tried to imagine what it must have been like in Gallipoli , especially when I read they called a truce so they could bury the fallen from both sides . reminds me of that scene in blackadder , you know the one , very humbling reading his handwritten notes & how his handwriting deteriorated as the years went on I didnt know him but I am proud , dont understand half of what is in the army papers
