from what i have picked up so far in my opinoin which may be wrong the most common lurchers today are either bull,saluki or collie but dont think ive seen anyone ask which sex people prefer and why......................

There is good and bad in both.

 

Unspayed bitches that are affected by heath and false pregnancy are pretty useless for 3 months or more per year, dogs are much more consistent for performance.

 

I tend to aim for a medium size...in small breeds/crosses I would take a dog as they tend to be bigger...in large breeds/crosses I would take a bitch as they tend to be smaller...but I wouldn't say no to a small game whippet bitch either...

i prefer a bitch i also think they form a better bond but apart from that not realy sure why just always what ive went for .

I've had both over the years but only keep dogs now,no seasons to contend with.Just my opinion but you can work a dog anytime,bitches can be a bit hormonal at times and always seen to break season when you have something planned,then it messes up the dogs.

dog or bitch doesn't matter realy as long as you put the time in etc with the dog from a pup imo. also from my experience bitches tend to mature quicker than dogs

I've got both, I prefer bitches but dont think it matters as far as working ability goes - as an old keeper said to me, bitches are a pain in the arse for six weeks of the year, dogs are a pain in the arse all year!
