R.A.W 1,987
I was on my way home from food shopping earlier when i saw a dog( a shar pei) running up a busy road. i stopped stopped the van and tried to call her in mean while cars were stopping as they saw me, there was nearly accident when some idiot in a hurry tried to over take a car that was slowing down. i could see a police car join the queue of traffic and this was one of the very few times that i was pleased to see the old bill. i explained the situation and he put the lights on and tried to catch the frightened pooch. the dog was a bit skittish to say the least but to my surprise the copper turned to me after about thirty seconds and explain he wasn't trained to deal with dogs so he had to leave . he assured me the dog warden would be informed first thing Monday morning and he couldn't help any further. so it was left to me and a lady that had stopped to try and get the dog ( and other road users) to safety. we managed to push the dog to the side streets were she disappeared into the night. (the dog not the lady ) i know the police are understaffed due to cuts but fork me whats next ?
LaraCroft 863
Scary isn't it. Well done ( not that I would have expected anything else from you ) for stopping and helping, lots of people just can't be bothered these days. My cousin is a copper in the Cheltenham area - their "plan" to sort out the boy racers who do fast circuits of the town on an evening, is to send a plod to stand by the pedestrian crossing and press the button to get the lights to change .... apparently it is cheaper and easier to do that, than try to actually stop them doing it. whippet 99 2,613
you would of been liable for the accident because of interfereing with traffic ,............as much as you were good doing.......... working on the roads if you signal to a car to stop or slow etc etc ............you are liable if accident happens as your instructing commands ,...............due to your circumstances the old bill would of been kind tho......... R.A.W 1,987
i was just trying to do the right thing and hopefully if one of my dogs were in the same prediciment i hope someone else would do the same. i've picked up a few strays while out walking the dogs and it's always a bonus having a tin of chocolate bought for you when you've reunited a dog to it's owner. i wasn't thinking of the chocolates honest . lara thats unbelievable. they closed our high street on a thursday night because of it.

Ditto. I couldn't leave it. One of the reasons I never walk any of my lot near iced lakes in winter - because if anything happened, I would be the " daft pet owner drowns trying to save her dog"
