Whippet Hound Bitch Wanted To Be Lined With Bedlington

Recommended Posts

Im on the look out for a good whippet hound to put my bedlington over. I reckon he is the right type of dog to put to a whippet hound to make good little rabbiting dogs. His parents were both worked to ground . He has a bit of leg to him, good coat, feet, drive through the roof. Smashes the cover and is mute when chasing rabbits. He has good nose on him aswell. truth be told he has nevee seen the sharp end of a fox so im not trying to tout him as a cross for a serious fox dog but im sure he has alot to offer the right bitch to put out good rabbiting dogs. If anyone has a good bitch to put him to let me know as im lookin for a pup from mating . Will stick up pick later

To be honest he is only a young dog at 12 month mark . In a perfect situation i would wait til end of nxt season and test him on teeth. Before i take a breed from him But i have a gap in my crew that needs to be filled

and although i havnt seen this dogs full potential yet , id be still very happy with what ive seen so far in regards to a cross for good rabbit dogs . Forgot to mention, he is a plessure to own, he is laid back and quite in kennels but an anti christ when hunting

with you saying you havnt seen his full potential, and you breed him and keep a pup to fill the gap but in the meantime you try the sire on something with teeth and in jacks what do you then do with the pup you've kept??

keep it and hope the bitch has better blood than your dog and has given the pup something your male was lacking ?? or do you sell it ?? or take on a 1 ticket walk ??

No dig just asking what your thoughts

A fair question bud. If sire is afraid of teeth it wouldnt cast any doubt on the pups abilities to catch bunnies but if sire proves that hes gamey then he might serve as a cross for a fox dog later on if ever needed. Either way i got this dog just for putting out game for the runners and he does this well so hes a keeper whatever happens. I do want to make it clear to anyone that might be interested that its good little rabbit dogs im after. I reckon hes the right dog to bring coat , feet, nose, intelligence, and good general attitude to a rabbiting dog.

Chris. Were all great lads for passin judgement over others from behind are keyboards and spouting out the usuall stuff. This is not my first working

dog and i am well aware of the importance of good breeding and testing of dogs. Having said that, im after a little rabbit dog not a dog for taking fox. truth of it is chris that even at his age i can see what he has to offer a rabbit dog. Ie. Coat, feet, nose, fanominal prey drive, mute when chasing rabbits, determination stamina, brains and as far as working little bunnies is concerned.. Good allround attitude. I can only imagine some of the things listed above improving even more as he gets older and more experienced

anyone is more than welcome to come out for a day and see this dog do his job ( rabbiting). Except you chris your not welcome because your a bollix.. Ha ha

Lol I wouldn't want to see it work mate to be honest but if you knew much about dogs mate & breeding you would be looking to breed from a dog & a bitch that's been tried & tested at they jobs not from a 12 month old dog that's done jack shit & because he's mute on rabbits WOW I better get me one those lol :D atb cbx

Truth be told chris, my first reaction would be the same as yours if i read an add like this but i suppose im confident that this dog of mine has something to offer as a cross for a rabbiting dog simply because he does his job i got him for very well even for his age. His job is rabbits, do you see the connection yet? As for being mute, its not a very clever thing to single out one attribute out of a list so you can take a cheap shot. Im sure you will reply with something else that you think sounds a little bit clever but im gonn

a do my best not to take the bait as im a busy man and it takes up too much time doing these back and forths. good night and god bless

On a serious note brenner as far as I know mate he could be a real good dog at is job but why do you want to breed from him so soon why don't you leave him mature develop into even better dog,get a couple more season under his belt & prove his worth ;) atb cbx

Both fair points lads. As said above i fully understand the negative replies to this add and maybe i am over reaching in my thinking on this breeding but i have never seen a proper working bedlington until i seen the parents of this dog. Unfortunately i have no contact for the guy i got him off to try work something out. if the right beddyxwhippet/hound pup comes ( not bred from show stock) along ide jump on it. A.t.b

Hi guys I and 2 mates are looking for some permission for some rabbit hunting in cornwall but can’t find where to ask. I and my mates are all greatly skilled with air rifles from just sitting in the back of our gardens with targets roughly 50-100yards and want to move onto small game so if anyone knows of anyone in cornwall that would give us permission please let me know.

Hi, we're having a sudden rat infestation on our small holding in North Cotswolds. Wondering if there are any people around with ratting dogs who want a bit of work?
