Kent County Show - *new* Country & Game Area

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

Just an update for you all, there is no Kent Game Fair this year however we have launched a new Country & Game Area at the Kent County Show (12, 13, 14 July 2013) to support the Kent Rural economy and is hosted by the CLA South East. If you wish to exhibit please contact Kate (our trade stand co-ordinator) - kate@kentshowground.co.uk 01622 633051 and she will be able to discuss your requirements further.

Alternatively please download the appropriate trade stand form by clicking the link below:

http://kentshowground.co.uk/exhibitors/trade-stands/

All exhibitors who wish to exhibit in this area will be entitled to a 25% new area introductory discount and must sell or offer Country & Game related products/serves.

Many thanks,

The Kent County Show Team

I like the county show as a spectacle but the trade stands have become a bit confusing over the last few years, a dedicated area for people who actually work their dogs, ferrets or just themselves and associated things like clothing, animal stuff like beds and leads, perhaps even animal feeds and some horsey stuff like lead reins would be a very welcome change, could you also organise a stand for "a taste of game" as rabbit burgers are a particular favourite of mine ;)

Hi, thanks so much for your feedback.

Just to update you, the team here are very aware how commercialised County Show's have become, unfortunately after circumstances such as the foot and mouth crisis, many Shows opened their doors to all sorts of trade and entertainment and slowly lost their focus.

This year we have listened to the farmers, traders/exhibitors, visitors, forums etc and fully understand that there is a call for all county Show's to return to their roots! The team here have all grown up with the Kent County Show and have huge amounts of passion for the event so we have rallied together to ensure that our focus is the true roots of the Show this year. With this in mind we have created a new Country & Game Area which we can now confirm is being officially hosted by the CLA, we have the Kennel Club attending with a number of heats for Crufts, the Equine area has been re-jigged to allow a much more pleasing shopping experience and the hot tubs, mop selling, dancing flower stands have been cut down!

This won't happen over night but this is the root we are taking and we hope over a few years we can push this Show back to where it should be, with the support of the trade and public alike!

To answer your questions, our new Country & Game area will also have a 'taste of game' area and the trade we have trickling in is of a quality high standard so things are looking really positive and the team here think this is the perfect move.We have the gun-dog scurry, rope-makers, blacksmiths, ferrets, agility, dog nutritionists, country clothing, guns and much more...

We hope you will support us with this Show direction that we have chosen to take and we look forward to seeing you there in July!!

Thank you for your continued support.

THE KENT COUNTY SHOW TEAM 2013

This is meant to be a scaled down quotation but it didn't quite work. I'll look in to it but in the meantime please carry on as normal. A quote from I LOVE KENT - This won't happen over night but this is the root we are taking and we hope over a few years we can push this Show back to where it should be, with the support of the trade and public alike! - End quote.

Ok, this may come across as a bit of bashing but I need to have answers to these questions, seeing as you're putting yourself up there. So, here's my beef. I don't suppose you'll be doing the same with entrance fees? I'm curious as to how you can charge nearly £20 to enter a show which is only twice as big as the Kent Garden Show and yet they only charge £6.50 to get in. You can't tell me you have 3 times the overheads as them. Coupled with what you are charging exhibitors to boot. I'm not saying you shouldn't be making a profit but there's making a profit and there's taking the piss. You have 3 guesses as to which I think you fall in to. Even if you charged £12 or £12.50 per head you would still be quids in, surely.

Your peers are awaiting your response with much anticipation.

Tbh it's the entrance fees that gripe me the most and taking the family it amounts to a fair screw to look round basically a piss poor market with nothing really that interests me(who the feck buys this shit or pots and pans at £70 each??)or any of my lot that go up with me.

If you really are going back to roots then I applaud you for having the balls to do it so ill attend.
