right every time i read a photography mag they say shoot in raw. ive always shot jpeg. so do any of you shoot in raw. if so why.

and what are the pro's and cons of shooting in raw. and should i shoot in raw.

 

ps. i have the option to shoot in raw and jpeg. at the same time. is there any benefits to this ? :blink: cs. confused.com

i have raw on my camera but aint got a clue what it is .. never used it :laugh:

Look at raw as unprocessed images, they are images captured exactly as the camera settings, but can be completely adjusted.

 

When you take in jpeg, the camera actually processes the image first.

 

The plus with raw, is you can do more manipulation without loss of quality.

The down side, is that you create larger files and you end up doing loads of "dark room" stuff sat at your computer.

 

I used to take all my pics in raw,be specially for weddings, but have now gone back to fine jpeg.

raw comes into its own when it comes to editing :thumbs:

The advantage with raw in editing is that it is lossless, which means you can keep saving an image without any loss in quality.

 

With jpeg every time you save you lose a little quality
