HW97KT changed pellets .. results..

Recommended Posts

Now then lads, Ayup ;)

Heres a few pics and the story of todays plinking session using my HW97KT

20121216_151025.jpg20121216_151055.jpg

after my last outing with the hw95k i thought i would compare my hw97kt with a pretty fair test. now the last time i used my 97 i was using daystate Li pellets and it was not getting on with them at all. when i chronoed these there was 40 fps varition! the rifle has had about 600 pellets through her from brand new, including todays session. the Lis were also inconsistent in my hw95k, possibly a dodgy batch?

so i got set up put my usual targets up at my usual 35 yards range and sat down in my usual position and got comfy. set the zoom to 10x and the pallarax to 35yards crystal clear picture through the mtc mamba lite 4-16x44. as expected the zero was out with the jsb exact 4.52 after changing from the Lis.

got the zero roughly sorted and after about 20 pellets to re-lead the clean barrel off i went to shoot some groups and fine out the zero.

top target 8ish shots, 10 clicks down on the turret and bottom target 10 shots after the adjustment. note the blue centre circle is the same size as a uk 2p coin :)20121216_152043.jpg

these black circles are roughly same size as a uk 5p, 5/6 shots

heres the next 5 shots after concentrating a bit harder, the one on the right was a slight wobble :(

then another 1 shot each at the next targets

20121216_154312.jpg20121216_154317.jpg

heres the last 5 shot group as the light was starting to fade and i still needed to chrono. the bottom right pellet was also a wobble, damned cold hands haha, althought the other 4 and possibly this would all be covered by a 5p at 35 yards thats good enough for me from a rifle thats still had only 600 pellets through it 20121216_155147.jpg

then a 4 shot group at 59 yards with the scope still set at 10x and pallaraxed to 35 yards so was a bit blurry, also i was a bit unstedier due to been cold lol but excuses aside it would still just about go under a 2p although i dont generally shoot vermin past 45 yards. another thing to note was there was no wind so thats why i decided to get out, instead of smashing the death out of black ops 2 for the double xp lol 20121216_155244.jpg

i was using the no. 6 bull as an aimpoint so this shows the drop aswell from 35 yd -59 yd with the unweighed unwashed unlubed jsb exact 4.52

heres the chrono results aswell, 13fps spread over 15 shots. bit close to the limit so going to have to keep an eye on it

HW 97 jsb. un weighed unwashed unlubed

HW 95 jsb . same tin. unweighed unwashed unlubed

so my final thoughts. ..

I love both my rifles and really couldnt choose between them! if i could only have one of them i seriously would not mind which it was. these are both factory standard guns, just stripped cleaned and relubed by myself. they both shoot really smooth and im happy enough about it :) they both like the jsb 4.52 so im going to stick to them. next i might try the same test with washed and lubed pellets through both guns to see how they get on. now at 35 yards both of these guns will easily hit 5p if not 1 hole groups if i really put my mind to it, and i personally think im a GOOD shot, but nowhere near the level of quality shooting from the likes of Si Davy and Simon pianoman.

although if i get a bit more practice in i could improve. so if i bring either of these beautys to the june meet you all better watch out hahaha!

thanks for reading my lifestory LOL

Ta, SKoT ;)

Mac your not wrong they are class pellets, back in the day AA diabolo field had the edge but now these JSB are cream of the crops. good enough for my 95 and 97 so no need to look any further at the min
