Alrite lads, im new to this site i have a 5 month old patterdale pup, ive being traping live rats for him since he was 3 months old, all in all about 9 or 10 rats could somebody tell me how often should he get needles or wat needles should he get? hes now catching mice out my back garden on his Todd

The pup wont need fcuk all for taking a few rat bites , i would of waited till it had its second teeth before letting him go on rats !

I personally find that rat bites rarely need treating unless its a gash or rip.best to let them heal from the inside out.

What do you mean by needles? Did he have his first innoculations?

If the pup has already had its first shots, there is no need to give the pup anything after getting rat bit. Just clean it out with a little soapy hot water, or some hydrogen peroxide.

I use Betadine for such. Does not irritate skin or cause any other (allergic) reactions. Of course; parvo, rabies (here yearly vaccinations for u-gound hunting dogs, no rabies in UK?) and such vaccinations are a must.

Alright Hawki,are you the lad I do meet up in the fields when i'm walking my dogs,,if so he is one cracking little pup ye have and full of balls,,

 

Lads if i'm right and this is the same lad ,which i'm sure it is ,it is his first working terrier and he is just learning what they involve but as keen as mustard ,spents hours up in them fields with the pup ,

 

I'm sure we can sort a day out somewhere with me and lads,while we are working the dogs,but ye still have plenty of time for that pup to show what he is bred for,come the start of next season he should be a nice age
