The Seeker 3,048
Have you got permission (written) on ground that is suitable to use the calibre/s in question? If yes then you should be OK, if it is your first fire arm excluding the shot gun the current fashion by police FAO's is to insist on a mentoring clause, although not a legal requirement it seems to becoming more and more adopted by Police forces. Good luck Quote Link to post

Why don't you ask for the .222 for Roe as well (Scotland)? No need to specify Red and Roe for the .270, Deer will do! Yeh, you need good reason as well! Quote Link to post
Skull Hooker 185
My first rifle was a Sauer .270, a beautiful gun, but, IMHO, a truly awful calibre. Kicked like a mule. Biggest mistake I ever made My advice would be to ask for a .308, a far more user friendly round. I'm sure theres those who would disagree, but I have had both, and I would stand by my comments. Rake aboot 4,936
If you have good reason you will get what you require. The 222 is pretty hot on roe,, just shot my first with my new 222 on Sat and it dropped it no probs,, done some damage in fact !. 270 is a blooterer of a round,, would go 308 myself. or maybe 65x55 Scottish forces seem to be quite sensible about these thing,, in fact I asked about a pistol recently and was told to apply, cause if I could justify it there was every chance I would get it . The one 8,589
As long as you have a good reason there should be no problem as i think youve been shooting long enough they wont ask for you to be mentored for a bit . and now days when you say where your permission is they know if the lands suitable for that caliber of gun Quote Link to post
