What do you mean jump?,,,,, As in can it jump a five bar gate or Sumthing,,, or a rabbit netting fence,,, then no and yes,,, but most small spaniels wil find away through. As for being chased,,, never happend we were to good Lol 3 Quote Link to post
fitchet 788
I still do a fair bit of roost shooting (pigeons) quite often if i shoot one the dog will pounce and stop it flapping and ill get the chance of another shot. Its funny watching a dog retrieve 3 birds at once. I did have a pic on my old blackberry. Will try and dig it out. Quote Link to post

bigdaz 688
I'd expect any collie blooded lurcher to take feather, the more collie in the mix, the greater likliehood, also of course gundog crosses. I've seen lurchers hunt and take feather with the same enthusiasism as fur. Quote Link to post
gamerooster 1,179
As I said earlier, the best dog I have seen was a first cross beddy greyhound called 'stone', but he was a cracking mooching dog, a proper old fashioned pot filler......... But my mate has two litter sisters, the sire was 3/4 greyhound 1/4 collie, a very good hare dog in his day, and the dam to the 2 bitches was 3/4 whippet 1/4 beddy, and these bitches are very good at catching feather, especially in thick cover......... But I had a 3/4 Saluki dog who was good on feather, and had a knack for catching partridge on the lamp............. so really, any cross can make a good feather dog, and then some won't, its just luck of the draw, and I think getting a few successful catches when they are starting off is a great help Quote Link to post
freelance 448
I like the odd wander for one for the pot at dusk, my own dog will walk to heel off lead while i take a shot then go fetch the birds. Although having said that last season we was out and trying to show my mates pup the game and he is quite a dominant dog and it seemed to put my own dog off a bit. But i will dust the guns off soon and when the leaves have dropped a bit more near me i will try him on his own again. I do like a dog to take feather as it is another string to there bow. Here is a couple of pics and the last one being my mate,s pup Cheers Atb 2 Quote Link to post
