what happened to it?

It got to a small EBT bitch I had and they got at it in a major way, he ended up with a broken leg and and the bitch with 30+ stitches around her neck and throat

He healed well though, he waited until I was out at work and the little bitch was in range and away he went again, this time it was worse and he was PTS, the bitch recovered after a good while but was never a happy dog after that

When I look back at those times I am most unimpressed with the way I kept my dogs but a few years, a lot of listening and few quid later the current lot are all doing well

Bull russell...........why?

Seen a fair few staff blooded russells over the years as the local lads used to use them a bit. Some were absolute car crashes to look at, like teckels with ford fiesta heads

Finally got the pic of a Bull russell I had back in the 's it was a first cross and really good ratting dog, got too big to go to ground and got really naughty with other dogs as he got older which proved to be his undoing, he was known as Fred the b*****d

 

Very, very similar to a dog I had as a kid back in the 70s........he was one bad old b*****d, in hindsight you wouldn't keep him now as he was stranger and dog aggressive.

He just wanted to kill stuff and didn't really care what it was, refused to sleep indoors........an old character of a dog really and one that will always live in my memory

Id have been nearly 10 when the dog died........and that was the end of the 70s Simmo, hard to believe I know with my youthful film star looks but true !!!! Lol

 

Stabs, I wasn't that fashionable mate ! Lol lol.....I was more the tonic trousers, monkey boots, snorkel jacket kind of guy!

Id have been nearly 10 when the dog died........and that was the end of the 70s Simmo, hard to believe I know with my youthful film star looks but true !!!! Lol

The old dog was fine around the sheep and goats but a complete f****r round the horses, he would grab their tails and hang on for dear life getting the shit kicked out of him.

 

I remember we came back to our small holding to find a load of turkey poults slaughtered, the old man blamed the dog and hit him with a shovel, flattened him for a second then up on his feet, give himself a shake and tottered off back to his place under one of the caravans.

At our other place, the dog spent 3 weeks chewing through the fence just so he could get at the Airedale across the road......he did it, got out and leathered the poor rucking thing.

Happy as larry for a good week after that, I swear if a dog could smile that old b*****d was smiling.......plenty of other funny memories I have of that dog and that's why he's a special one

A bit like your Staffy, the dog came to us as an adult mate.....two old girls had him in Canterbury, he was in a little back room and they said to my old man " if you can get him, you can have him!" .......my old fella walked in, calmed the animal for a minute then lifted him and did no more than walk directly out the place and drop the dog on my mothers lap in the front of the motor!!!......funny enough, this mean bad to the bone dog would never even curl a lip to my mother for the rest of its life.

 

When his time came, we could see the dog wasn't right but as usual he would not be f****d about with......we knew he was dieing and the last thing the dog did was come and stand by my mother for a while, then he just took himself off into his spot in the yard layed down and never woke up.

 

Don't know about work style or anything like that, never thought about " work" for the dog when I was a kid.....just ratchet about with my couple of Russell's and killed things here and there.

 

What a grand way of life it was for a kid and his mongrels.
