PoshPikey 560
Think you need to retype your topic - it sounds painful. Keep an eye on the sales board as people routinely clear out old hutches and you should be able to pick one up for not too much. It will work out chepaer than making your own. Avoid chicken wire - you need weld mesh and make it at least twice the size you are planning. Best of luck 1 Quote Link to post

I've had ferrets since I was a kid and have always used chicken wire, never had any problems with ferrets escaping or anything. Why do people have a problem with it? Quote Link to post

Why do people have a problem with it? i have had hobs in season tug chicken wire & escape from cages in the past , so after that I got some weld mesh & re covered in that if you stick your foot on a piece on the floor & pull it, it stretches & basically becomes weak Quote Link to post
The one 8,592
If a ferret bites a piece of chicken wire it rusts at that spot bite the same bit again and you have a hole and with chicken wire its big enough for them to escape Quote Link to post
The one 8,592
For two ferrets plan on at least a 6x2x2 hutch a draught proof area for them to sleep in and thats about it Quote Link to post
happyferret123 13
When I looked into making a hutch for the size I wanted the materials would have been too expensive. Perhaps its just that Cheltenham is expensive. I ended up getting a 10ftx6ftx2ft hutch someone made for my Cheltenham address, and buying several smaller ones and joining them up for when I am in Bournemouth. The 2nd method was pretty cheap as I got the 2nd hand hutches for £10 and £20 and joined them up with a toilet tube bought from b&q. Quote Link to post
happyferret123 13
Make sure you include as many toys as possible. Tubes, hammocks, wheels. Make sure its fully waterproof. easy to clean. locks on every door. Can include a litter tray (does make it easier if they choose to use it) Quote Link to post

I know you can stretch it but no ferret in the world is strong enough to pull it as hard you a person can. Quote Link to post
