dytkos 17,945
i just use a long lead on the handle bars does me, but if theres a jolt it worries me lol. you got a link to it? thats how i used do it , (till ) feckin Bryn nearly pulled me over handle bars, he saw a feckin tree rat the other side of the road going up the tree. He went mad and pulled me into the other side of the road , very dangerous . He really goes mad for them , norm he no prob and dont pull , but them he is a strong bloody nutter Been there several times Ray I try to stay on the bridleway with the dogs running free if I can. If any thing jumps at least I can (almost) keep up with the dogs Cheers, D. Quote Link to post
freelance 448
I use one of those as well Vin, used to just have the dog loose. But they can soon burn themselves out, but buy being on lead you can regulate the speed and trot or short blasts of galloping them. Cheers Atb Quote Link to post
lapin2008 1,587
I do this with my two but dont have one of the special attachments for it just hold a couple of leads in my right hand. I just make sure that I give them plenty of time to wonder round the back yard before hand so they have a chance to have a good shit before we set off. As they have had me on my arse several times through stopping for a dump. I also mostly only bike them in the rain so that there is less stuff to chase out as the hedgerows around here are full of rabbits and it doesnt take a lot for them to tip you over lol Quote Link to post

birddog 1,354
am i old fashioned? i don't see any great benefit from the biking. mines get maybe a couple of hours walk in the morning with maybe 30 runs after a ball at intervals and a 2 hr mooch at night when i'm off with a few chases thrown in if i'm working the other half gives them a walk maybe a couple of miles and a wee free run in the park. this year we're maybe a wee bit ahead and they're bouncing Quote Link to post

You can't say there's no benefit in that, both for me and for the mutts Cheers, D. 2 Quote Link to post

Hour in the morning for both dogs, then xena will get a run out with the bike or free running on the farms in the evening. Edited August 16, 2012 by derbylad1 Quote Link to post

Millet 4,497
Rocky the dog's sharp learn the score when you start biking them..if possible the best thing to do is give them the first half mile off the lead at walking pace..so it will give them chance to empty themself's ...after that they don't usualy stop once they have got into a rythm..
