Nice shooting as usual Si, Tony has clearly done a remarkable job on your 97K. I bet you're pleased as punch. It seemed to hammer those woodies too!   Milegajo, I'm on whatsapp, its the best app on

Again im impressed Si . That rifle shoots consistently like a pcp . I thought on the video of you shooting rabbots at a stable off a fence post , that it was VERY quiet , and seemed to have very littl

Body shots will always bring up different opinions and what I'm about to say is just mine based on my own experience. I may get some grief for this, but here goes.....   I don't think pellet weight

Well I guess we've all learned something from this thread eh hmm.gif

Zinc Pellets, close range and soft tissue are not a good mix

And most importantly, if you have a springer, Tony at SFS is the best man to sweeten it up notworthy.gif

Wonder what he could do to my XS19 hmm.gif although it would cost more to have the work done than it did to buy the gun laugh.png

Expertise like Tony's just cant come cheap!

Tony

Aye, that was 1) my first heart and lung shot due to second guessing myself (13gr lightweight pellet) and 2) my first shot in anger with a ThunderBolt.

On paper they're excellent through the TH208, I shouldn't have underestimated their stopping power. :nono:

Oh, and correct if I'm wrong gents but I don't think Tony works on SMK's

I don't think pellet weight is really an issue, I use .20 FTTs at a quoted 11.44 grains and I regularly take rabbits with heart-lung shots if a head shot does not present. It drops them quite dead where they were stood mostly.

Like Tony, I've a good understanding of the anatomy and I've been doing this for a long time, I would NOT recomend a novice to try this, you've really got to know exactly where to place the shot for it to be reliable, whatever caliber or pellet type is being used but that said, I wouldn't try this shot with .177 in sub 12.

Just my opinion :victory:

great video again si, i dont think iv used my s16 since i bought my hw97k i just cant put it down!

quick question, iv been shooting a few crows recently and was wondering if the crow anatomy is the same as the pigeon asin you could aim at the pigeons heart and lung area at the bottem of the back below the wing and kill it humanely is this the same for the crow?

thanks lewis

Great shooting again pal ;)

thoughr you would have taken that last pigeon with a headshot tho, it was 'only' 37 yards ..if i heard right..

Still took it clean tho and thats what matters.

Thumbs up from me again. all the best

I didn't want to risk missing the head and hitting the aluminium thing on the caretakers roof.

He was with me and asked me not to damage it.

If you notice the pellets comes into camera shot from the left of the picture as the camera was at the front of my car and i was towards the back when taking the shot so the aluminium thing was well within my view and I needed to be precise.

A heart and lung shot was much safer Skot, and at the end of the day dead is dead buddy either way from the head or organ shot.

A crow is much easier mate.

Head, neck, spine, organ all on.

With crows I try to take head when ever possible but a heart shot drops them very well too.

Miles you can't polish a turd mate, use your 97 or tx for hunting and use that smk on paper. Horrible rifle.

Milegajo,

Why are you using your SMK for hunting pal when you have a HW97?

Does the SMK fit you better buddy?

If not then i would defo think about using the HW over the SMK.

I would also bin the ammo your using and try H & N Field Target Trophy pellets if you do decide to use your HW97.

The TH208 is not a Hw95/80 that's true, i disagree with Mawders' verdict but respect his opinion however.

I won't go into too much detail answering your question, 1) am on my mobile 2) I've caused enough distraction from your thread and work 3) It's part of a feature/challenge I'm undertaking to be published shortly.

It must be evident by now that I march to the beat of a different drum, but its more than that.

During my recent spate of acquisitions of guns costing £300+ secondhand, I was aware that this may be offputing to a poor man stuck in a 9-5 wanting to make the break live a lifestyle similar to my own. The presumption maybe that you have to make a large investment in order to have the equipment to put meat on the table. Money is getting elusive for many. As false as that conclusion may be, I wanted to see if a lower cost rifle could still do the job and document my experience. The weather has made this difficult.

The thunderbolt ammo is another variable i've thrown in.

Men better than I are already doing a fantastic job of showing the capabilities of rifles like the Hw97k/TX200.

If it wasn't for the limitations of mobile internet i would view your videos more frequently. If this latest one is as good as the ones i have managed to watch then guys are in for a treat (lord knows mawders loves them, bless him).

You're a huge inspiration to many Si and you deserve all the rewards that come from the effort you put in to these videos. I've had firsthand experience of not only the challenge of filming, but people forget the time spent cutting and editing.

I'm not the only one who has a lot of respect for you Si.

Best wishes,

Thank you, Mike J.
