Numbers of lurchers and types...

Recommended Posts

Just purely out of interest, what dogs have you got and what are there specialties? Ie just rabbit dogs, retrieving big stuff, and there ages, etc.

Are they kenneled together or separate?

I've got a 24" bitch that is proving a decent all rounder so far. She is about 3 years old. Also got a 5 year old bushing terrier.

I plan to get a little bitch pup just for rabbiting later this year. 3/4 whippet 1/4 collie or similar.

And then when my 24" lurcher starts getting long in the tooth I want a coursing bred dog for tackling the long ears when I travel abroad to where it's legal :whistling:

At the moment both my dogs are kenneled together and get on great. When I move next month they are gonna have a 28' x 5' run with a 6' x 6' brick built kennel and I plan to kennel the pup with these aswell.

I should hopefully have all bases covered with these dogs. Just wondering what you lot have got?

I agree with the kennel your on about is too big, Id build a sepert runs and kennels 5' by 28' sounds abit wierd on size so iam guessing your useing a perticualer space if i were you id build 3 pens at 8' by 5' with there own sleeping area or somthing simialer but thats just what id do....

Iv got three lurchers,

An oldish bitch now, A young dog with a season under his belt and a young pup out of my old bitch,

Out of intrest garath if your 24 inch bitch is an alrounder it should be just as good on the rabbits as bigger stuff so why the need for a rabbit dog???? Or is it a jack of all trades but master of none and looking for more of a specialised dog???

collie/grey throws here hand to most stuff and most quarry but becoming a specialised rabbit dog

Bull x which is a working progress which will hopefully dabble in most things but hoping it will become a specialised Charlie dog.

Collie/grey lives in doors with me or when at work comes with
