What are they and where are they from? They look strong animals for sure?

Catahoulas, or Louisiana Leopard dogs. From the southern states of America, used as a ranch dog on cattle and for hunting hogs, etc. Also quite popular in Oz for hunting, pures and crosses. Allways fancied one myself, but very prohibitive to import, costwise.

Cheers.

I like the look of them CP...strong boned and a head like a bucket lol..wonder what their stamina is like and what kind of height they are because on the pics atleast they look bigger than our collie's? ATB Andy.

I think they would/might be a better alternative to a collie in lurcher breeding, as they have been bred for hundreds of years as a dual purpose herder/hunter, but we are pretty entrenched in our thoughts on Lurchers, and "exotic" breeds are usualy greeted with skepticism and scorn !! LOL !!

Cheers.
