bunny tickler 876
hi lads lets have your opinions again , ok we all all have a selection of state of the art air rifles or springers lol , now summer is here .is it fair to shoot our quarry , if you shoot a crow pigeon or maggie , anything ,one way or another 1 parent has to feed the brood or they starve ? is that reasonable .ok you lamp or shoot a fox ? the dog or vixen has to bring the cubs up alone ?( with the right rifles of course ) are we ethitcaly or moraly wrong to shoot & kill at times of breeding & reproduceing our future sport , i personally think all nature has a right to have a chance to reproduce to keep all species at a level to sustain nature , we need nature nature needs us , think of our children Quote Link to post

Buster321c 1,010
Well , as proven time and time again , people go out trigger happy and kill every thing that moves. Its funny how many times ive read that they`ve been out and shot loads of young rabbbits , and six months later there asking `Where have all the rabbits gone ?` To my mind its not about total wipe out ( but there will always be the `Its pest control` answer ) but about management . 2 Quote Link to post

bunny tickler 876
thanks daz /buster obviously you are both expireienced hunters & country men too many people think its wise to shoot everything at any time regardless of breeding season , i respect your views Quote Link to post
ftm 3,357
well my view is kill every magpie or nest robbing spieces as i want my grand kids to see and hear song birds -woodies seem to be doing fine so i will take a few of them[no great numbers tho] rats i will shoot on site as i do with squizzers -rabbits are left alone till winter -foxes are not my thing -wont shoot hares i like to see a good dog behind one-these are only my views lads and each to their own -billy 3 Quote Link to post
Bradford Lad 74
For me its not about shooting big numbers, i shot two rabbits today, add to that a a woody, a sqizzer and a maggie and thats me happy. i'm always mindful that numbers need keeping an eye on but they do need thinning out all year round. secretagentmole 1,701
I am asked to go for a total kill policy on the paddocks, but I have a lot of fields that come with the paddocks to go to after that! The paddocks have horses in, valuable to their owners, so farmer wants the rabbits removed end of. But if I concentrate there then the fields recover, it gets to the point I have to go to the fields, the paddocks come back, add to that the river is along one edge, so there is a constant supply of fresh rabbits coming over the bank!
