ArchieHood 3,692
Things didn't look to rosy this morning weather wise so a trip out to christen the R-10 was put on hold until this afternoon. With a ray of sunshine poking through the clouds I decided to take a trip up to one of the farms I frequent mainly to keep the feral pigeons down and the odd rat that has resisted the temptation to gorge itself on bromadiolone. The farm in question is well above sea level so when I arrived and saw straw blowing about in mini tornados I knew things weren't going to be easy. After a mooch about a flock of about nine pigeons circled above looking to perch on the ridge of the main cow shed. Now the main problem with this is (a) I cant shoot them as they fall into a valley and cannot be easily retrieved and ( the main cow shed is covered in Solar Panels at £600 a shot so I have to wait for them to show themselves to be safely "shootable" ie on the ground or on the eves. This usually entails following them round until they settle and I can take a shot.I stayed up the farm for 3 hours managed to raise the gun 11 times, fired 6 times and took 4 out.Not the best statistics I know, but under the conditions it was a worthwhile trip with the added bonus of christening the gun.Alls well that ends well. 1 Quote Link to post

Mawders 595
Good going mate, like you I ventured out this afternoon and got to my farm perm and found the ground to be like the bog of eternal stench like on the labrynth. The wind was blowing that hard I couldn't even stay on aim as the rifle was just getting blown around. Decided after an hour or so to go home for steak and chips and try again another day when hurricane katrina wasn't outside! Left empty handed. Quote Link to post
