If i can call a dog that has one of the biggest prey drives off a chase then what does that make me, God? Since no one else seems to be able to manage it. They have a prey drive though mate, and if they see game all they want to do is have it. I said they have ONE OF the highest prey drives, possibly on a par with a runner. Hence why they are used in the field retrieving and flushing. jasper65 6 Posted February 26, 2012 Report Share Posted February 26, 2012 Hare numbers are pretty high here in Norfolk, I don't think I have seen a decline since I first walked into the fields as a lad. seen them coursed <Pre-Ban>, shot some myself with a rifle and also with a shotty, also took a couple with a Goshawk. have to say the most unsporting out of them all is the organised Hare shoots, there's one place Sandringham way called Bircham Newton and surrounding areas that where some organised shoots would take place. You probably will never beleive this but over a few days there was hares shot into their Hundreds somtimes over 500, most of these was destined for the continent. I went on one Hare shoot mid 90's and have to say I enjoyed it but never attended another one, apart from having size 4's landing around my feet when guns shot along the line which scared the shit out me it was pretty much a slaughter.........
