Ideation 8,216
I justcharm the pants off them. Naaaw, i ask to speak to the landowner, and if not i leave my card, and i usually keep it short and say my name is x, i do the rabbit control here, there and there, and i was wondering if you had a problem with rabbits or would mind me doing a bit of ferreting. Im insured etc. Job done!
patterdalejoel 669
dont turn up in your hunting gear, go smartly dressed, speak politely and if you can have any other farmers give you recomendations that your an alright guy it encourages them
PlasticJock 539
Ask for the landowner, I had some luck just picking up the phone ringing about as well.... Now's the best time as if they have sheep they may need foxes controlled for the lambing, also lookout for fields covered in pigeons just offer to hammer them. Mention you're insured and the rest of it at the very beginning, try and make it hard for them to say no

PlasticJock 539
How can you make it hard for them to say no, Use your common sense.... Dress smart, bring certificates/references with you, know what you're asking for - don't just say ''I want somewhere to shoot'', tell them what you can do to help them. Tell them you always carry your phone and you will let them know when you'll be up, as oppose to rocking up and doing what you want. It's their land, and they will have to trust you before letting you fly around doing whatever. Build up a good arguement then let them know how they will benefit from letting you on their land.
